What is the HSC Examination?

The exam covers students from all eight general boards, plus the Madrasa Board (Alim) and Technical/Vocational Board (HSC Vocational).

Your result includes a Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 5.0 scale. Each subject is graded separately, and the overall GPA is the average of all subjects (excluding the 4th optional subject by default).
| Marks Range | Letter Grade | Grade Points |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100 | A+ | 5.0 |
| 70–79 | A | 4.0 |
| 60–69 | A– | 3.5 |
| 50–59 | B | 3.0 |
| 40–49 | C | 2.0 |
| 33–39 | D | 1.0 |
| 0–32 | F | 0.0 |
A student who receives an F in any subject is considered to have failed that subject and must appear for an improvement exam. A Golden A+ means A+ in all subjects.
What to Do After Getting Your Result
If you passed:
- Collect your original mark sheet and certificate from your college
- Apply for university admission through the Guccho (coordinated) admission system
- Check admission requirements — most public universities require a minimum combined GPA from SSC and HSC
- Consider applying for a Board Challenge (re-scrutiny) if you believe a subject was marked incorrectly
If you failed one or more subjects:
- Register for the compartmental (improvement) examination for the failed subjects
- Contact your college for registration details and timelines
- You may retake failed subjects in the next available exam session
