Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

1. Overview

Snifox ("we", "us", "our") operates snifox.com and its subdomains (collectively, "the Sites"). This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the Sites and how it is used.

On the main site and File Converter, we do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any personal details directly. Our Visastat and LinkWatch subdomains do collect an email address (and, for Visastat, an application number) to provide their paid alert services — see Sections 11 and 12 for details.

2. Information We Collect

The main site and File Converter do not collect or store any personal information directly. However, the following data may be collected automatically through third-party services:

3. Google AdSense and Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our Sites. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Sites and other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use our Sites, see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect aggregate, anonymised data about how visitors use our Sites — for example, which pages are visited most and what countries visitors come from. This data helps us improve the Sites.

Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. The data is processed by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Analytics data is collected in aggregate only. We do not use it to identify or track individual users in a personally identifiable way.

5. Data We Do Not Collect

On our free tools, we do not:

6. Third-Party Data Sources

The Ireland Visa Status Tracker (visastat.snifox.com) displays data sourced from publicly available documents published on ireland.ie. We do not control this data and are not responsible for its accuracy. This tool is not affiliated with the Irish Embassy or any government authority.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data held about you.

For the main site and File Converter, which do not directly collect personal data, most GDPR rights relate to data held by third-party services (such as Google) — you can manage your Google data preferences at myaccount.google.com. For Visastat's and LinkWatch's paid features, which do directly collect data (see Sections 11 and 12), email contact@snifox.com to access, correct, or delete your data.

8. Cookies

We use your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember your dark/light mode preference and your cookie consent choice. These are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.

Google AdSense and Google Analytics use cookies to serve personalised ads and collect anonymised usage data respectively. You can manage or delete these cookies through your browser settings at any time.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Sites after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us at: contact@snifox.com. This mailbox is forwarded to our team's inbox via ImprovMX, an email-forwarding sub-processor. See ImprovMX Privacy Policy.

11. Visastat — Ireland Visa Email Alerts

The Ireland Visa Status Tracker (visastat.snifox.com) offers an optional one-time email alert ($2) that notifies you when new decisions are published for your application number.

Data we collect

How we use it

Your data is used to provide the email alert: monitoring for your application number and delivering a notification email when a matching decision is found. Once your application is decided, we may also send a single follow-up email asking for a review of the tool (you can unsubscribe from this, and from all alert emails, at any time using the link included in every email). Once the alert is triggered, the subscription is marked as fulfilled. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except our service providers listed below.

Sub-processors

Data retention

Once your application's decision has been detected, that alert record is retained for up to 90 days from your original subscription date, then deleted — this can mean less than 90 days after the decision itself, depending on how long your application took to be decided.

Your rights

You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing contact@snifox.com.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Processing is carried out on the basis of contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — your data is necessary to deliver the alert you purchased.

Application Guide purchases

Visastat also offers an optional one-time Ireland Visa Application Guide ($3). Buying it collects your email address (to send your access link and verify future support requests); payment is verified via Lemon Squeezy's own signed webhook, and we do not separately record an order ID. Access records are retained indefinitely so a past buyer can always request their access link again; you may request deletion at any time by emailing contact@snifox.com. Same sub-processors and legal basis as the email alert above.

Referral program

Visastat's referral program gives each verified past customer their own unique referral code (sent by email after their purchase is confirmed). If you enter someone else's referral code when purchasing, we look up which past customer that code belongs to and apply their discount — no email address is submitted or typed as part of a referral. The referrer is not notified when their code is used. This processing is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — preventing abuse of the discount program.

Application Guide purchasers separately receive a one-time bonus code, in the same purchase-confirmation email, that they can redeem themselves for a free email-alert subscription on their own application — this doesn't involve any other customer's data.

Agency / bulk-access interest form

Visastat's for-agencies page lets visa consultancies and similar organizations register interest in a possible future bulk-lookup/API product — nothing is built or sold yet. Submitting the form collects your name, email address, and, if you choose to provide them, your agency/company name, an estimate of your monthly application volume, and a free-text message about what you'd use it for. This data is used only to gauge demand and, if we decide to build the product, to follow up with you about it — it is not used for any other marketing purpose. Submissions are retained until we decide whether to build the product or you request deletion, whichever comes first; email contact@snifox.com to request deletion at any time. Same sub-processors as the email alert above (Resend for the internal notification email, Hetzner for hosting). Processing is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — assessing demand for a product you've proactively asked us to consider building.

Reviews

If you submit a review of Visastat, we collect the name you provide (which may be a pseudonym), your review text and star rating, and optionally which embassy your review relates to. You may also optionally provide your email address so we can check it against our paid-customer records and display a "Verified Customer" badge on your review — this email is never shown publicly or to other users, is only used for that one-time check, and is visible only to us for moderation purposes. Submitted reviews are held for manual moderation before appearing publicly; approved reviews are displayed publicly and retained indefinitely as a permanent record (including previously-rejected reviews, kept only internally for spam-pattern reference, never displayed). You may request removal of a review you submitted, or deletion of the email associated with it, at any time by emailing contact@snifox.com.

Rate-limiting data

IP address — held in a local database on our server to enforce fair-use request limits, automatically purged within about an hour of your last request. Not shared with any third party.

12. LinkWatch — Broken Link Monitor

LinkWatch (linkwatch.snifox.com) is a paid subscription service ($8/month) that crawls your website weekly and emails you a health report.

Data we collect

How we use it

Your data is used solely to provide the monitoring service: crawling your site, sending reports, and managing your subscription. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except our service providers listed below.

Sub-processors

Data retention

Subscription records are retained while your subscription is active. Cancelled subscriptions are retained for up to 90 days for billing dispute purposes, then deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing contact@snifox.com. You may cancel your subscription at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any report email.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Processing is carried out on the basis of contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — your data is necessary to provide the service you subscribed to.

13. File Converter — Uploaded Files

File Converter (fileconverter.snifox.com) lets you convert documents, spreadsheets, and images between common formats.

Data we collect

How we use it

Your uploaded file is used solely to perform the requested conversion. It is never written to permanent storage, logged in full, or shared with any third party. The temporary file is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes — whether it succeeds or fails.

Data retention

None. Uploaded files and converted output are not retained after your download completes; on a failed conversion, only a generic error type (not the file's content) may appear in server error logs for troubleshooting.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and convert any file you submit. Do not upload files containing content you do not own or are not authorized to process.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Processing is carried out on the basis of contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — your file is necessary to provide the conversion you requested.
