How to Check Your Ireland Visa Application Status Online

Waiting for a visa decision is stressful. The good news is that the Irish Embassy in New Delhi publishes a list of processed applications daily โ€” and you can check whether your application number appears on it without having to call the embassy or send emails.

This guide explains exactly how the process works, what the status categories mean, and how to use the Snifox Visa Status Tracker to get your result in seconds.

What the Embassy Publishes

The Irish Embassy Visa Office in New Delhi publishes a spreadsheet (ODS file) on its website that lists application numbers and their current decision status. This file is updated every working day, typically around 11:00 AM IST. It does not include names โ€” only application numbers and decisions โ€” so your personal data remains private.

The decisions recorded in this file fall into three categories:

StatusWhat it means
ApprovedYour visa has been granted. You will receive your passport back with a visa sticker.
RefusedYour application was not successful. A refusal letter will be sent explaining the reason.
Still ProcessingYour application number is not yet listed โ€” the embassy has not made a decision yet.

What You Need

To check your status you only need one thing: your application number. This is the reference number on your VFS Global acknowledgement slip, typically 8 or more digits long (for example: 12345678).

You do not need your passport number, date of birth, or any other personal information.

How to Check Using the Snifox Tracker

  1. Go to visastat.snifox.com
  2. The page automatically loads the latest embassy data and shows live approval and refusal statistics.
  3. Scroll down to the search box and enter your application number.
  4. Click Check Status โ€” your result appears instantly.
  5. If your result shows "Still Processing", your application number is not yet in the published list. Check again the next working day.

How Often Is the Data Updated?

The embassy updates the spreadsheet every working day (Monday to Friday, excluding Irish and Indian public holidays). The Snifox tracker fetches the latest version of this file automatically โ€” you do not need to refresh or do anything manually. The page shows a "data freshness" badge so you can see exactly when the data was last updated.

What to Do If Your Application Is Refused

A refusal does not mean you can never get an Irish visa. The embassy is required to send you a written refusal notice explaining the specific reason. Common reasons include insufficient financial documentation, incomplete travel history, or unclear purpose of visit. You have the right to appeal the decision within two months of receiving the refusal letter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Snifox tracker official?

No โ€” it is an independent tool that reads publicly available data from the embassy website. It is not affiliated with the Irish Embassy or VFS Global.

My number isn't showing โ€” does that mean refusal?

No. "Still Processing" simply means your number has not appeared in the published list yet. It will appear once a decision is made.

Can I use this for other embassies?

Currently the tracker only covers the Irish Embassy in New Delhi. Other embassies have different systems and do not publish similar data.
